About Us

Emco Finishing Products, Inc. is a manufacturer and stocking distributor which has been providing quality manufactured products and service to various industries for over 70 years. The company was founded by the late Edwin Hegstedt and his late father, Magnus Hegstedt (Edwin-Magnus Co., thus EMCO) in 1935 and was originally located at 289 Steele St. Jamestown, New York.

When WWII interrupted its operation, business stayed alive in a household garage. In 1947, after the war, Ed took on a partner and the business was incorporated and moved to its present location.

In 1972, Ed's Partner left the business and Don Erickson, Ed's son-in-law, came to work at Emco. In 1978 Ed retired and Don purchased the business. In the years since, the company has expanded the size of its facility several times, as well as its line of products.

In 1990, Don's son-in-law, Dan Alexander, joined the business. Since then, in addition to its continuing manufacturing, Emco has now established itself as a unique custom finish (color) matching business for the woodworking industry. We are also a distributor of high performance coatings, abrasives, spray equipment and more. In 1999 Don retired and Dan purchased the business.

With the continued efforts of Dan and all our employees, Emco will strive to provide an increasing number of products to and services to our valued customers throughout the future. Our major goal is to maintain the quality one-on-one service that this family-owned business has strived to achieve, while continuing to offer the best selection of quality products for the
industrial market.
